“You formed my inmost being; I praise you, because I am wonderfully made, wonderful are your works! My very self you know.”
Psalms 139:13-14

The Lord gazes at me and I can’t help but think of my unworthiness and insecurities. With full knowledge of my shortcomings, He sees me as His artwork, His greatest masterpiece. He sees beauty I take years to comprehend. He sees a beautiful daughter that He, Himself, created. Every “flaw” is His way of identifying us throughout the crowd. He wants to pick me out among His other creations saying there goes my girl!
Why would He create everyone looking exactly alike? Everyone
with the same skin tone, same nose structure, same body shape? When we see
others, how easy is it for us to compare, feel less? Society will push you to
alter your image and encourage you, that you are not enough. But why are we
giving them that power? When God made you in His likeness and image! Do we fail
to realize who is Greater? If God hand picked you out of the crowd to be apart of His gallery, would you accept? If you invited Him into your heart will He be alone???
The world will tell you many things, but if you only knew a glimpse of how beautiful, loved, amazing and cherished you are, those things won't matter. Because you're perfect for Him.
Prayer:
Lord, sometimes I can’t see myself the way You see me.
Sometimes
it’s hard to believe I was made in Your likeness and image. I’m sorry for
making fun of Your masterpiece. You are the greatest artist. I want to see what
You see. Give me those eyes. The eyes to realize that I am Your beautiful
child.
Amen.
Exercise:
Pretend you are at the beach with Jesus and gaze into His eyes for 5 minutes. Acknowledge all your emotions, tell Him your feelings, and let Him admire His work ✝
P.S. This was all inspired by my penance during my confession at Renewal Park at World Youth Day 2019 Panama. Blessed is an understatement.
This is beautiful :)
